Several students put their all into working on the homecoming float this week. We had the only float with a ten foot tall mechanized robot! Great work team!
Iron Pride Robotics Club Dues
We are currently collecting Club dues, with half due now ($110) and the other half due by October 14 ($110). We have structured club dues this year to include registration fees for 10 tournaments, team registration fees and team shirts. This means parents will have no financial obligation for the rest of the year unless an extended stay at State or World Championships is necessary.
We’d like to get our club shirts ordered soon so we will have them for our first tournament in late October. All club members need to order their shirt at our t shirt order link.
One shirt is included in club dues. If you would like extra shirts or if your family members would like to order shirts, they are available for $10 each ($2 extra for extended sizes XXL and above). Just order them at the link above and put funds in the inbox in the robotics room. Shirt orders are due by September 22. This year’s shirt design will be similar to last year’s design.
The Iron Pride will be sponsoring a float in the Homecoming Parade on Friday, Sept. 30. Construction will be Monday,Tuesday, and Wednesday of that week. We need some extra help so please come if you are available. This is a great opportunity for the community to see what your kids do! Click on our parade float decorating link to sign up to help out! Please meet in front of the high school so we can carpool. Our home base is just down the road from the school. On parade day, plan to meet at the high school at 3:15 pm. and carpool over to where the float is being stored. Please wear your club shirt.
We are looking to begin a corporate sponsorship program for the club. If you know any businesses that might be interested in helping out local non-profit groups, please go to our sponsorship link.
Our event calendar is online at our club website. Click on events.

Wawasee Schools is pleased to announce their summer robotics camps for grades 7-12. Two camps will be offered: Introduction to VEX Robotics and VEX Robotics Competition Camp. All camps are from 8:00am to 12:00pm at Wawasee High School in Room A218.
The Introduction to VEX Robotics Camp ($100) will take place June 27-July 1. This is for campers with minimal levels of experience with robotics. Campers will spend the week studying and applying concepts in physics, engineering, and computer programming. Campers will be introduced to the VEX Robotics platform used in the High School Club and Course. Campers will construct a basic robot and program it to follow a maze. They will then modify the robot to participate in a simple game. This is a great way to gain experience before participation in the WHS Robotics Club.
The VEX Robotics Competition Camp ($50 per week) is 4 weeks long: July 11-15, July 18-22, July 25-29, and August 1-5. This is for campers with all levels of experience with robotics. Campers will spend 4 weeks studying and applying concepts in physics, engineering, and computer programming. Campers will construct robotic designs and use them to compete in the VEX Robotics Challenge for the 2016-17 competition season. Robotic systems designed will include chassis, intakes, lift systems, and manipulators.
Checks can be made out to Jed Wandland.
