The Wawasee High School Robotics Team, The Iron Pride, was formed in September of 2013. The Team was formed to advance the STEM skills of students at Wawasee High School in Syracuse Indiana through the use of robotics, and to promote 21st Century careers in STEM related fields.

Currently the team competes in the VEX Robotics Challenge and is a part of Wawasee Robotics which extends its program down to the elementary level with LEGO WeDo. The team currently consists of 45 students grades 9-12, on 10 VRC teams.

The short term goals of the team are:
– to compete in the VEX Robotics Challenge
– to host 2 local competitions each season

Long term goals for the team consist of:
– winning the Indiana VRC State Championships – goal met for the 2016/17 school year
– competing in the VRC World Championships – goal met for the 2016/17 school year
– growing the program to encompass 10% of the schools student body
– mentoring middle school students in the VRC – – goal met for the 2016/17 school year with Wawasee Middle School students competing at the State championships
– hosting multiple state and regional competitions – goal met for the 2016/17 school year
– becoming financially self sufficient through hosting competitions and sponsorship
